Hanoi, the capital of the country, has a lot of attractions to offer the tourists. One of the prime tourist destinations is The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, famous for its rich collection of fine arts, consisting of more than 2 thousand items. One Pillar Pagoda, situated in the western part of the city, is also worth visiting. It was first built in 1049 and was dedicated to Buddha. Vietnam is proud of its first university, nowadays it is the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam. At present there remained 82 steles standing in the premises of Van Mieu. In the center of the city the tourists can find Lake of Restored Sword, the origin of which is connected with interesting legend. Among other temples of Hanoi the following should be mentioned: Hai Ba Trung Temple, Quan Thanh Temple, and Ngoc Son Temple. If you are interested in history go to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), which is full of historical sights. Nha Rong Whart is a combination of buildings, fulfilled in western and eastern architecture styles with the roof decorated by carvings of dragons. Notre Dame Cathedral (Grand Cathedral) is located in the heart of the city. It got its name only after the approval of the Vatican. Cu Chi Tunnel is a suburban district some 30km northwest of the city. It is popular among the tourists because Cu Chi was an "underground village" with its labyrinth of interlaced tunnels. If you are eager to witness the military atmosphere visit War Remnants Museum in Saigon. It houses a collection of weapons, machinery, artifacts and other weapons of mass destruction.
A trip to Vietnam would be incomplete without visiting Hue - beautiful city on the two sides of the Huong River. It is considered to be the country’s last ancient feudal capital. The forbidden walls, palaces and royal tombs are listed by UNESCO as World Culture Heritage Sights. Traveling south of Hue, the tourists can see eight splendid royal tombs of the Nguyen emperors, situated among the hills on the banks of the Perfume River. The boat trip along the Perfume River will for sure take the tourists’ breath away. Hoi An seems unchanged since the 17th century, it is famous for its ancient architecture.
